HOW DOES ACUPUNCTURE WORK?

In an acupuncture treatment, very fine filiform needles are inserted into the patient’s body to activate the Qi flow along specific Qi pathways (meridians). Acupuncture rebalances this subtle yet profound energetic system to create a free flow of Qi within the body.
Chinese medical philosophy states that the body is able to heal itself, if its most subtle energy, the Qi, is flowing properly and harmoniously. Harmony in the Qi level will naturally affect the most physically perceivable level, the blood, tissues and bones and promoting the process of healing there, because Qi is understood to be contained in those tissues. This is why acupuncture can successfully treat a comprehensive array of disorders, as severe as stabbing headaches, or the side-effect of chemotherapy, while remaining gentle and unobtrusive.
DOES ACUPUNCTURE HURT?
It shouldn’t. Tree of Qi Acupuncture clinic uses the highest quality filiform needles on the market today, and we use the most gentle and effective techniques in our treatments to ensure a pleasant treatment experience for all of our patients. Once in a while, a patient may feel heaviness or slight distention around an acupuncture point during or after needle insertion. This is a normal phenomenon, and usually indicates the arrival of Qi, a natural rebalancing process.
